Carlo Verri was born in 1952 (Milano - Italy)
Combining his passion for music and performing art in general, Carlo Verri started his career as a photographer at the age of 18
Verri's vast catalogue contains images of many great musicians: Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Art Blakey, Sonny Rollins, Bill Evans, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Pepper, Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock, Regina Carter, Bennie Godman, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, Carlos Santana, Neil Young, Miram Makeba, Ravi Shankar and Astor Piazzolla and many others.
Since the 70’s, Verri's deep interest in jazz music has developed itself not only within photography but also as a publicist, interviewer, producer of concerts and collector of live recordings.
From 1982 to 2004 Verri has contributed to many books on jazz, album sleeves, and published articles in newspapers and magazines.
Verri had his first exhibition in Bollate (MI) in 1980 with ‘Immagini del Jazz’.
His many exhibitions were presented in Torino, Milano, Venezia, Perugia, Siena, Terni, Ferrara, Biella, Cosenza, Lugano, Sirmione, Genova, Padova, and more.
In 1987 Verri won "3rd World Jazz Photo ’87" prize by Warsaw’s Jazz Forum magazine.
In 2001, on the occasion of one of his exhibitions at Palazzo Ducale of Genova, dedicated to jazz musicians, Genova Jazz Museum purchased the entire exhibition to permanently house.
RAI (Italian public radio and television) and several private channels have printed Carlo’s activity editorials.
In 2008, Verri's photography book is published by Mediane Publisher, titled “Jazz from A to Z” which features 400 images from 1978 to 2006 taken in Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, and The Netherlands.
Publications of his work have been made in Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, Germany, Poland and United States.
From 2006 to 2012 Sotheby’s – Milano- has auctioned for charity some of his pictures.
